We need to follow the admonition of our Creator GOD...   We love HIM because HE first loved us...  Our understanding of love steams from GOD...  He placed in each of us the desire to love first ourself, as a created being; then to extend our love and considerations to our fellow humanbeings... 

You are so right in your reply that there is only one thing to not love;  that is sin and any who oppose the will of GOD...  Because it is being in the will of GOD that allows us to love and then enjoy or share love in the universe...
