What you have read about the alkalinity of magnetized water and alkaline water produced by a water ionizer does not stand up to research. The lab results show consistently higher pH (at least from top of the line ionizers, see here: http://www.waterionizer.org/site/898596/page/454316#1. Also, what is not mentioned is that only water ionizers produce water with powerful antioxidant properties. Some results here: http://www.waterionizer.org/site/898596/page/454348.

I am a researcher on alkaline ionized water, and I simply have not been able to find research-substantiated results for magnetic water. I suggest a friendly challenge: ionized water vs. magnetic water!
