LOL. I didn't follow suit in trying to eat healthfully for many years -- but at least you created a example for me that helped me later when I finally decided to try to eat healthy. While I was watching and listening to you I was mostly just observing with fascination. It was so alien to me. I mean, my dad had been on health kicks in the past, but his idea of eating healthy just meant drinking some awful-tasting stuff called Tiger's Milk and powdered low-fat dry milk (blech!).

A favorite memory in re this is when you worked at King Soopers, the local grocery chain, at the checkout lanes. You would get so upset by seeing all the junky food people would buy, and you talked about it a lot. This fascinated me also! I mean, this was back in the '70s for goodness sake. Really you were ahead of your time! It was quite amusing, too. It was something you talked about many times, how horrifying it was to see all the junk people purchased to eat rather than real food. That really made an impression on me, and I still think it's terribly interesting to remember. I have mentioned this to some different checkers over the years, wondering if any would ever come back with something like, "Oh yes, I know how she felt. I just can't believe the things people buy that pass as food," but NO -- not even one has said that. Of course they might be fired if they did say that. I don't know.

Can you remember those days very well? I would love to read a short story written by you just talking about that. It's really a fun angle for some reason!!!
