"The edible fruit is shaped like a tear drop."
The research on Job's Tears points out how far and little
we know about our seeds. This paragraph you quotes
is wonderful, and may help me clear up a mystery in my head.
The flower of the plant, in the green stage, may be edible.
I will put up some photos of this flower sometime.
It is green.
I have never found the seed, as in the excellent picture above,
edible. My sponsor Richo from Horizon Herbs says it is.
I just don't get it.
There is also amazing confusion between this ornamental
seed for beading--the one I grow---and what is called Hata Mugi--
which is the Job's Tear's called Pearled Barley. This Mata Mugi
is the seed that has all the cancer fighting properties that are often
reported and attributed to the ornamental variety that is pictures
and that I grow.
I have seen qualities attributed to the above bead that are
basically speaking about another plant--Hata Mugi. I am misspelling
this perhaps.
Dazzle, are you personally familar with the seed in the picture?
Have you ever found any part of it edible?
Let me know.
thanks
Leslie
