also, buy locally! go to farmer's markets, where the farmer sells the produce directly to the consumer, thus avoiding the middle-man (the grocery store)and shipping costs. I went last week and bought tomatoes for $1.00 a pound, 'cause I waited 'till almost closing time and the vendors have to pack up and go; they sell cheap to get rid of produce so they don't have to repack it!

the best thing of course would be for all of us to grow some of our own food in pots or small plots in our yards or community gardens. I haven't much of a green thumb, and it takes time and work but it is an option for those of us who have trouble affording organic--I haven't done this, yet, myself.

But think of it this way: what is the cost to our health, the health of our children, and the health of the planet if we DON'T buy and eat organic foods? To me, there is no question in my mind that organic is the way to go, expensive or no.
