Is considered in Islam to be the Holy Spirit who strengthened Jesus and many other prophets including Moses and Abraham. The one in charge of sending revelation to humankind.
It is not allowed to cast a painting of this Angel becuase one would not know what he would look like, out of respect, and perhaps it may be considered an image to worship in the future. ( one of the ten commandments )

We do find however in narrations that at one time Gabriel was seen to fill the entire horizon with some 700 brilliant magnficient wings, mighty and majestic is this ArchAngel.
