Hi, tomi444, I'm not sure what you mean by your message!
As for a "placebo", I know in Western medicine the "placebo effect" is when a doctor, for example, gives a patient a sugar pill and says, "here, take these pills, you'll feel better". The pills in and of themselves don't do anything except taste sweet because they have no medicinal value, but the patient takes the pills and feels better. Why? because the patient BELIEVES what the doctor has said. In other words, the patient's own mind was convinced they'd feel better by taking the pills, and so the patient DID feel better. Contrary to Western practitioners who disdain such patients and "put down" the placebo process, I think the placebo effect is a fantastic example of how our own minds can make us sick, and how our own minds can heal us.
So, are you saying that the plant ayahuasca is a placebo, of sorts, for me? Perhaps so. I'm convinced we all innately have the ability to heal ourselves; it's a matter of getting around our own mental blocks, of which I know I have many. If a plant medicine, chanting, drumming, sungazing, meditation, or whatever, will help me get around my own mental blocks so that I can readily access my own healing abilities, so be it! Bring on the placebos!
Love, Liora Leah
