Thanks for posting this, Leslie! I was thinking about June 12, the Jewish Holy Day of Shavuot, that commemorates the marriage of God and the Israelites at Mt. Sinai, when the Israelites received Torah. I was thinking, why do the Jews get to marry God, and no one else? Where were all the other peoples of the world? Were they relegated to be the wedding guests?

A Rabbi, I think it was Rabbi Moshe Rafa'el Halfon, once said that story has it that all the souls of all the people that existed on Earth, past, present, and future, where there on Mt. Sinai, and they all married God. I prefer this version to the one that is traditionally taught on Shavuot.
