Thank you, Leslie, for your kind words. How sweet it is to know that there are others in the world who understand the true meaning and need for healing from childhood trauma.

Certainly, there are times in our lives when we feel like damaged goods and can't imagine being anything but....but we all are born special and full of love; it's learning to pull away from the noise and lies that helps us recover from trauma and learn to love ourselves.

I spoke at a fundraiser last night and had the honor of giving a very special award to a wonderful person. My friend Vanessa received the 2005 Woman of Promise award from the Center for New Directions in Columbus, Ohio, my hometown. I had the honor of receiving last year's award and got to get up on stage and talk about all the obstacles Vanessa has overcome in her personal life and career. When Vanessa lost her career during the dot com crash of the nineties, she felt worthless and damaged. It was relating to others who felt hopeless that brought her to heal and begin again. Vanessa is now finishing up her second master's degree and working at a non-prof in the service of others. She now says her life couldn't be better. This is because others stepped up to love on her and help.

We all have special qualities and wisdom that another person needs. We must share with others and help the world to heal. Surely war, hate, and lies are not stronger than what has divinely been placed within us.

It is when we share with one another our hurts, strength, and experience that we begin to make the world a more comfortable place for all.

I am truly blessed to have made a new friend in Leslie, my enchanted gardener. His message is one of healing and hope. It is one of which more people should take notice. Leslie's wisdom is obviously a gift. Thank God he is willing to share this with the rest of us.
