I'm so sorry Shirley has passed away.
She contacted me in the late '70s
while I was attending LA Valley College. Although a student, at the
time, I had made my career as an
illustrator. Shirley had seen my work in a literary publication and thought
I would be able to possibly illustrate
a book she had written. Thus, began
our meetings and a wonderful rapport. She was an excellent writer and could clearly express the ideas
she had relating to images and symbols in her book. What a joy to work with her!
