I can really understand your concern about over-hyped products, however, in the case of DMSO I know from personal experience that DMSO is useful for minimizing and preventing herpes outbreaks. It does not cure herpes as some will claim. DMSO is not FDA approved and therefore can only be sold as a solvent. As long as the FDA does not approve DMSO for other uses beyond interstital cystitis unscrupulous markters will take advantage of vulnerable people with conditions such as herpes and cancer promising them cures. This is wrong and should be stopped.

Research and regulation is the way to go here. There are too many people who are benefiting to ingnore DMSO and it's uses.
