Typo. I meant I would NOT recommend people to "fuel" a fever as a cure for flu or other diseases as there is no research and there are too many complications involved.
For example you get fever in malaria but it is not enough to kill the malaria causing parasite. I don't think it would be dangerous to allow the fever to go high and try and cure malaria in that method(just an example).
But ofcourse in defense of the "treatment" :-P. Malaria is parasite and not a normal bacteria or virus.
Whereas bacteria and viruses are know to perish at low temperatures.
Swine flue for example does not survive temperates above 33 degrees celsius
