Thank You dear cousin!
How liberating it has been for me to let go of the "luggage"!
It is interesting now to look back on my ride down with you from SF where I had to let go of three pieces of luggage in order to get "on board" with you! (And I clearly remember how happy I was to pass those items onto an interested party that just happened to be standing close by!) How all the more delightful life might be to be able to discard beliefs, attitudes and other mental fixations as easily as I did the luggage! One key I am realizing is to have minimum expectation (read: hidden demands)! I believe that another key is to make no assumptions. See "The Four Agreements"! Using mind management tools such as these can help keep out focus in the "now" where life, joy, power, grace and peace can be found! What can be better than that?
It seems that time is required for healing the deep impacts that young children have suffered at the hands of immature adults. Time enough for the child to grow into their own adulthood to the point where they can embrace their own inner child and say "I love you! I'm here for you. Thank you for being here!". And for me the real beauty of all this is that the child can continue to be the child. In fact my brother had reminded me recently how that our 80 year-old father still has his inner child that is receptive to being "babied". For a lot of us being "babied" is just a matter of being held. Even something as simple as a real good hug can go a long way towards nourishing that inner baby! In fact touch is the first language of all babies. (They will die without it!) Maybe the children "at risk" are children who have suffered more from a lack of being held than from druggie influences. I believe I have read that touch is essential for brain development. It nourishes the cerebral pathways. That's why super-learning environments include some kind of kinesthetic activities in addition to the linear inputs. We are body, mind and spirit and therefore require three-fold nourishing. Young children (seven and under) are referred to as body-beings and need to related to as such with as much love and affection as can be tolerated. I think adults need children to literally keep "in touch" with their own inner-child as well as the child in all of us!
Yippee for The Child Everywhere!
