I had my mirena inserted 7 days ago...I have been having extreme cramping and joint pain in my knees. I know it has only been 7 days, but i am beginning to worry now. I had previously been on oral birth control for 10 years to reduce the painful cramps and other PMS ailments. Over Christmas I started bleeding and never stopped for about 60 days straight. My DR. recommended the mirena instead of oral birth control. I have not had any children or ever been pregnant. I am 30 years old. The mirena insertion was the most painful thing ive experienced, followed by the worst cramping for 7 days, and now knee pain. Tomorrow I am suppose to be called by a nurse, first thing, to discuss the current problems....I hate to ask, but I need more pain killers - it is not better. I am suppose to schedule a check up for the mirena insertion a month after...after reading the postings, I think I need to have it removed if I'm not better. Any comments? How are you now?
