"Welcome to Chef Jem and all of our recent introductees!
You mentioned Peter Dukich and his recent passing of which I was unaware. Peter was my inspiration and mentor back in the early 1980's.
He conducted Saturday morning workshops at his home in Simi Valley.
The workshops actually went longer than the morning and spilled all over the house, the yard and anywhere else Peter felt like taking us. I remember vividly one morning when he took us all out into the small front yard to admire his orange tree. He had an earthen trough of BD compost around the tree. He picked an orange, sliced it for all to sample and watched with delight as everyone's face lit up at the incredible tastes from this fruit.

He was passionate about his BD compost and probably made tons of it during his life. He would screen it meticulously and bag it to order. Once he boasted that many of his cars were purchased with the sale of his
BD compost.

He gardened at the Highland Hall Waldorf School for a time and the garden radiated his light touch.

He even had a light blue Cadillac hearse. He'd built a long box to slide in where the coffin would rest and that is how he trucked around his compost. He claims that once while giving a workshop, the weather turned stormy so he piled everyone into the hearse to finish the session!

I moved back to the Midwest (New Harmony) in 1984 carrying the BD torch that Peter had passed to me. In 1987 it was my great fortune to bring him back there to speak at our BD conference.

I'll always remember him as full of enthusiam, life and LIGHT. He could stir you up about BD like no else.

Glad to know he is encouraging us all from beyond the pale.
Mark"

Mark really saw Peter! I would add that Peter's enthusiasm was outrageous! (Somewhat comparable to that of Dr. Bronner and maybe more so! ;^) I do want more of his PP! ;^)
