I can relate to this piece.
I once went to Las Vegas for a book publisher's conference.
It was a difficult trip, with the EG Mobile having a near breakdown
that had to be repaired later. I was pulled into town with a rope
if I recall, and felt like Jesus somehow being pulled into town
by a donkey--strange metaphor.
I never saw this kind of person before,
the children of the people who work the gambling tables,
up all night. It was the closest I ever saw to a person who
seemed soulless.
At the close of the conference, teardown was happening.
I went out the back door of the conference center where
no one had put too much energy.
There were plastic peanuts whirling around in small little windstorms.
They were beating the cement, hitting with a krackle.
Then then would whirl up in the air and dance around me.
Las Vegas is an incredible extreme place of light and dark.
I saw plants that were screaming for water. I found a little running
hose and carried it over to one.
Las Vegas: I had the feeling that if someone turned off the artificial
watering system, the entire place would blow away.
There was little relevance of what grows naturally there
to what people had imagined they could plant and grow there.
Then, as I was walking back toward the building,
I saw a picture of Jesus starting up at me from the pavement.
I picked it up.
I had a drum with me, and I started to beat it.
There was a free musical evening with a member of The Grateful Dead
who was also into drumming. We connected. Maybe this was in my mind.
I felt the desert was so hungry for something Sacred that the wind
could not control itself. It was so happy that someone was Present
and paying attention to this deserted unnatural area right outside
the conference back door.
I know there are lightworkers who live in Las Vegas.
I was glad to add a little more sacred feeling.
I felt this was part of my purpose in being there.
I am glad the person you Stumbled Upon makes
a Pilgrimage to Las Vegas. Every spot on earth
has an inherent Holiness. This is the place where
she goes to do her Pilgrimage, just as the Moslems
this time of year do a Pilgrimage.
