Well over all the article has some truth; but this is not about a crime against any special group; it effects everyone...

As you eluded to in the reply, so called "Hate Crimes " just allow certain groups power to crush or eliminate opposition...   In actually: there should not be any DISCRIMINATION, favored by the Federal Government PERIOD!!  These type laws only foster further discontent among the various groups... 

I agree that: this form of legislation will not stop any crime {Actually laws do not stop crime only a change of heart will} it makes the entire legal system more complicated...  

BTW: The USA has the greatest number of lawyers per capita, and also the greatest number of law suits per capitia...   It is something like 90% last I checked...  Does this seem to go along with such unnecessary laws as so called " Hate Crimes"...  HUH!!
