Hi there,

I know that a lot of women have replied "I'm so glad that I found this site!" I do not think anyone is happier than I am. I want this lawsuit to go through and I want to be a part of it!!! Here is my story.

I have 2 children. About 2 years ago I had my tubes tied as I did not want to have anymore children - the last pregnancy was hell and my son has a brain disorder - not something that I want to go through again! Three years ago I joined Weight Watchers and lost almost 70 lbs. I did it in less than a year and without much exercise. Don't worry - there is a reason for my telling you this.

In November of 2005, I went to the OBGYN due to severe pain in my abdomen. The doctor did an ultrasound to check for ectopic pregnancy - nothing. I was sent to the hospital to have a CAT scan. They found nothing there either. (All this and my insurance does not pay for the hospital visit because the hospital staff put me through the ER instead of just the CAT scan!!) Then I had a laparoscopy in Dec 05 - this was to check out what is going on in there - they also did a hysteroscopy while they were in there to help me with the excessive bleeding and clotting that I would experience during my period. My period was terrible since I went off the pill, however the pain I had was not from the period. My period would be heacy and last about 7-10 days. After finding no reason for my issues the OB told me I had 2 options - the Mirena or a hysterectomy! Which would you choose? I read over the material and I found that there were no real harmful side effects of the Mirena (at least none were listed in the material that was given to me!!) The Mirena was inserted in Feb 06 - and again the insurance would not pay for the devise so I had to pay out of pocket before insertion - $515.00!!!! The insertion was horrible, however the pain was about as bad not worse than I had been having.

I was told that the period would go away along with the cramps in about 3 months. Well it is a year later and here's what happened to me. I still have pain!! Not all the time like before, however I also have sore full breasts, SEVERE cramps, TERRIBLE headaches, I have been put on antidepressants and antianxiety meds, I have SEVERE mood swings - even on the meds, SEVERE incontinence, recently I have been dizzy,and loosing my hair on my head (but hair is growing heavier in patches on my stomach,breasts and upper thighs). I have acquired BAD acne on my face, neck, back, and chest. Worst of all I have gone back to Weight Watchers because I've gained 15-20 lbs since insertion. I CANNOT loose the weight!!!! I was SOOOOO good on the diet last week and yesterday weighed in 3.4 lbs HEAVIER!!!! Oh yeah - the fatique! I have made so many excuses for all of these symptoms - but THANK GOD that I am not crazy - I kept saying that it was the stupid Merina!! I just made an appt for Monday to have it out - I will let you know how it goes.

Push on with the suit!! This should not have to happen to anymore women - at least they (mfr) could put the Severe Side Effects in the litterature so that we can make better choices!! Thanks for reading.
