So here is my story....
After months of slowly becoming a cripple I accidently stumbled on to this website.
I have read most of these articles with disbelief. How could something that is meant
to protect you cause so much harm.
I had my mirena inserted a year ago after the birth of my second child. Major side effects which worsened with time were severe muscle inflammations,numbness, joint paint particularly in hands and wrists, weakness and tiredness to the extent that I could no longer do simple things like walking, carrying my children, getting up of a chair, even sleeping was too painful.
when all this started to interfere with my work and my relationship with my children I was referred to a rheumatologist who ran a whole lot of blood tests.
A blood test called the CPK and SGOT test were significantly high (CPK 880) and was referred to a neurologist who ran some routine tests (MRI and CT scans) to the conclusion that I possibly had some muscle degenerative disease that would eventually mean I would become a cripple.

All this to me was unbelievable. How could all this be happening to me at the age of 30. I was always a very active and very independant person who now had to depend on others for care. I cannot tell you how many nights I lay crying myself to sleep.

By coincidence I stumbled on to this website. I had my mirena removed immediately the next day. I just new this had to be it. I am now 6 days free of this horrible nightmare. I am not saying I am 100% better but I am experiencing significant change like being able to take a walk or climb stairs without complaining of being in pain. I would love to know if anything has been done to institute some sort of legal action to the company who created this........As well as if any one has had permanent damage as a result of it.
