I'm so glad I found this site !
I've been trying different meds for over 2 years and the Mirena was the last straw.
I've had it with hormone medication. Within 2 days of having the Mirena inserted I started up with the typical side effects I'd had with other medication and then the joint pain started and progressively got worse every day to the point where I was having difficulty walking and holding my daughter ( who is disabled and 100% dependent on us for mobility and care not to mention her physio, etc..).
My doctor also told me that the joint pain had nothing to do with the Mirena. Let's see, perfectly healthy in this respect one day and not so good 3days later with the only thing changing being the IUD...hmmm.
I had it removed after only 6 days, which my doctor thought was ridiculous but tough...I know my body and this reaction was in my mind 100% due to the IUD. It's been 4 days since it's removal and I've already noticed a change for the better although I still have a great deal of inflammation in my right ankle.
Thank you to everyone who has written in about this problem.
