Sanjaya helped me get through hard times when I had severe depression.  There is something about him that makes people happy.  It's like the "feel good" dolls on bewitched years ago:  "One Touch of Midas"--Endora casts a spell on a doll that makes every mortal who touches it fall in love with it . . . so of course an unsuspecting Darrin wants to mass-market the toy.
