My name is Cheryl and I had the Mierena inserted in October of 06. For days following I had severe cramping, and was basically unable to exist for a week. After getting over the first hump, I felt that something just was not right, but I waited until my first appointment for them to check it. I voiced my concerns to my doctor, and they assured me everything was just fine. My husband is in the Army and this is the typical level of care we get, so I just figured I would let it go for a while longer to see if things would get better. I bled constantly until about December, it was light, but was always there. After I was over that hurdle, one night during the holidays I had a severe pain in my chest, it went away finally and again I was told nothing was wrong.

Now here I sit eight months later, I have severe bloating, I have gained 34 pounds regardless of the dieting, I am irritable, my joints hurt, I have lower back pain to the point that most days it is hard to function, and now of all things I have blood in my stool. I really honestly thought I was dying with cancer, until I found this website stating what everyone is going through. Years ago I had the Depo shot and had similar problems, I was also assured by the doctor, when I told them I wanted a Tubal, that the Mierena was more effective than the sterlization, and that the side affects are not the same as with the Depo Provera shot. Who knew that I would be sitting here feeling exhausted, in pain, and looking online for resources to help me find out just what is wrong with me. Thank you so much for your time.
