I had no idea! I lived in asia for several years. Used oodles of disposable chopsticks myself. They are easy to use, it never crossed my mind to think of where they came from or how many people go through!
Some restaurants use plastic ones that they can wash and reuse. Bringing your own sounds... interesting!
