So here I sit at day 18. Into uncharted territory, as my longest to now was 17 days.

I haven't done a swf since 3 nights ago, but I've still been having plenty of elimination going on. I only drink 1 senna/gingko tea at the start of my work shift and even today I had a decent amount of mucus and that silt kind of stuff come out. I drive around all day at work, and usually stop at McD's when I have to use a washroom. I haven't eaten there in 3 years, but I stop there twice a day at work! It's weird enough seeing people mowing down on that crap when I'm eating, but two and a half weeks into a fast I can't help but be seriously repulsed! Man I used to eat there 3 times a day when I was a teenager, so I'm not trying to say I'm better than anyone, it's just disgusting, what's "normal" to eat.

I had to challenge an apprenticeship exam today. It's from material I was studying in college 8 years ago, and I did minimal studying the past few weeks. Up to about a half hour before the test I was having a hard time concentrating, partly because it's boring, partly because I'm becoming less and less interested in worldly matters. So I sat and meditated for about 20 minutes, just trying to clear my head of anything. The result: I was in the zone!! Finished the test in half the allotted time and even though I don't know my mark, they told me I passed, which is at least 70%. Things were just coming back to me that have been long buried in the recesses of my mind.

My experience right now is definitely elevating. Music is sounding better, people seem to be friendlier, and I can enjoy just closing my eyes and swimming through my thoughts, emotions, and memories.

I think I'm going to stop at 31 days, not because I don't think I could go longer, but I go on vacation on what would be day 39, and I won't have a juicer. I'm also planning on spending a lot of time picking mushrooms and I think it'd be better to eat raw for a week before getting into "regular" food, instead of straight off the fast. Then I'll do a 40 day-er in the spring or fall of next year.

    Ciao for now.

Update: It's 9:15 now. Since I got home from work and drank a veggie juice I've been to the bathroom 4 times. I know anyone reading my blog is sick to death of hearing this, but there's still so much coming out. I had to write down now that in the movement I just had, there was way more mucus than silt, and a lot of it was blood red and bigger and longer than usual. I've been drinking beet juice everyday, and the mucus hasn't yet looked like that.

I'm seriously in a state of disbelief right now; in a sick way I wish I had made every bm in the past 2 weeks into a bucket and let the moisture evaporate out to see how much useless crap was putrefying inside me!!

    Good night!

Hi there!! I'm glad to hear you're going strong. myself, i just couldnt go longer than 4 days. did a SWF and got a bunch of goop out. now im going to switch to a mostly raw diet for a few months.
Doing a prolonged fast just isnt in the books for me.....yet. i think 3-4 days is it, until i am bit more on a certain path in my life. until then i'll do the 3 day fasts, twice a month as i have been doing for a few months now. i know im not getting the full cleansing benefit as you are, by doing the shorter version, but im certain a short fast also has its benefits. and with all that stuff coming out of your body, you have proven to me that a fast will clean you out. i'm going to keep checking up on you, to hear how things are coming along.
also, don't concern yourself with ending the fast "prematurely". do what feels right. its not supposed to make you miserable, its supposed to make you feel better. :)
      keep us updated! namaste

Hey. That's too bad you stopped! You were just about over the hump! Personally I think it's way easier to do one extended fast than regular 3 day-ers! But hey, you do need to do it incrementally, and when you're ready I'm sure your body will let you know.

One thing though, is by doing 3 day-ers you'll always be cleaning out that top layer of crap off your intestines. As I'm finding out every day it really does take a long time to work down to the older stuff.

I'm not worried about prematurely ending my fast, I don't feel crappy at all. I just wanted to go the 40 days because that seems to be the prescribed amount by the great fasters of old; Moses, Jesus, Hippocrates, Pythagoras, etc. I'm getting so much physical cleansing done right now it'll probably be better to wait til spring to do an all-out spiritual cleansing. I just wanted to come out early with my new plans so it didn't seem like I just decided out of convenience to cut my fast short.

Well, keep in touch, and take it easy!

well, i think the problem is that i am not working a the moment. i simply have no regular schedule, and perhaps that contributed to my stopping. wake up whenever...go to bed whenever...i think its actually making me a bit depressed. i've only been out of work for about a month, and i thought i could use a break...but...maybe not. i have an interview with a company on monday, so i'll see if i can get a job there. and then perhaps i'll try again. i think it will be slightly easier to do this when i have other things to focus on besides my "hunger", uncomfortable sensations in the body, etc.
is it really better after 3-4 days? i was so hungry..not physically, but mentally i guess. i think you understand. :) also i am quite overweight, and i think that is also making it harder. my body is freaking out without food perhaps? curse my shoddy willpower!! i really want to do this..if only one time in my life i'd like to fast beyond 3-4 days...if only for the experience

          peace
