  • Day 7. First week update.   by  starstuff     18 y     3,182       4 Messages Shown       Blog: Something with some Crunch.
I made an effort to get in an extra juice today because I felt depleted after yesterdays *ahem* disruptions, and consequent lack of nutrition.
I had a REALLY low mood for a couple of hours this morning. Probably toxin induced.
Blew it away with a walk on the beach with the kids. I took juice :o)

I photographed all my juices today! Every time I go to drink one I think how pretty it looks (maybe they look prettier to the hungry!), anyway today I took pics and I'll make a collage showing one typical days worth of juice and other fluids on my fast. I'm doing this fast on top of all my usual food preparation for the kids and the Hubs, it just kind of disappears in a big blur if I don't stop to enjoy it, and really notice what I'm doing.
For 4 1/2 years I've put others needs pretty firmly before my own and finally getting to a place where I can carve out a little time to do something just for me and my well-being is a milestone in itself.
...I love caring for my babies, now growing up and a little more independant, but there hasn't been much in the way of spare time or energy for juice fasting.

...It does take energy, the first week or so (maybe 10 days?). Then if the experienced are to be believed you're rewarded with extra energy. When I did a 10 day fast previously I was feeling really good the last couple of days but I can't say if it was partly because I knew I was nearing the end and I'd started to plan how to break the fast!....Kind of an adrenaline rush to get me to the finish line!

It's different with kids, fasting I mean. I'm more patient. And I'm used to not necessarily being able to have what I want when I want it. A few years of sleep interrupted, mealtimes interrupted, spare time evaporated before it can even be interrupted, is really, REALLY good training for postponing mealtimes as I knew them for a month or so. I'm used to not having much time to dwell on what I think I might rather be doing...or eating!
After the kids are in bed at night it's hardest. I've watched more television in the past week than I had in 6 months before that. Can't watch the adverts though - that's my time to jump up and squeeze more lemon into more hot water.

    I'm 7 pounds lighter than I was a week ago. (I'm estimating I started this fast 20 - 25 pounds heavier than I was 5 years ago).

    Bring on week 2!
