Blog: Beauty Fast, a slow drag
Greets, beauty fasters - remember that we cannot be beautiful without beinng good, so stay vegan for compassion and just maybe compassion will be shown you! If not, quit yer dreaming!
It's only been two days, and I am a VERY, VERY slow metabolizer, but I already lost 6 of those 35 pounds I mentioned. Very possible there was some oedema going on from all that "raw foodist" SALT, eh what?
I really envy people who are only fat - weight loss is easy. Some people only need to go vegan to lose weight, some only need to go raw or alkalarian - but none of that is sufficient to turn a truly ugly person into a viable person, I think - but share your stories. At least not "raw" meaning "eat anything, as long as it's rae" - for instance, salt is poison for the whole body and a HUGE beauty-snatcher. So if what you really hate about your appearance is weight/fat, take heart - even for us slow metabolizers, THAT one's easy.
I'm sure the weight loss will not be so dramatic from here on out, but it was a cheering start, don't you think? Of course, all the oedema's still in my face.
What I'm doing:I'm actually planning to just go grassarian. Do this on a long-term basis, not as a fast. The grass does seem to make me feel nourished, for now, but one sure feels emotionally fragile, as if one can barely move without falling apart. It's scary.
I am sure I am withdrawing from grain-opioids and salt addiction - hence the rather intense feeling of conusin and uncertainty and sadness. I slept half the time the past two days, though the spring's been so charming - that's a sign my biochemistry is truly messed up and needs to heal to get into balance.
Good luck, beauty fasters - if I can do this, you can, too - it's for sure! (The first two days I wasn't hungry physically - the green juice really helps with that, and it helps mentally to know your body's getting everything it needs.)

Interesting concept. I know that the first time I fasted, my face looked HORRIBLE for the first five days then my skin cleared up. I'm looking forward to this next time. Also, the term 'grassarian' is interesting. I learned the term 'starchytarian' from Queen Afua, that is those veggies who eat the vegan cakes, etc. are so fat.

Thank you - this is good to hear. Maybe in 3 days or so, I won't be so UGLY in my "face". Ugh. Yes, I am really getting into this grassarian thing. Sometimes you just come upon a dietary that you think may be your "salvation" - alas, it can betray you, but for the time, you really want to give it your all, hoping it'll give back to your your heart's desire.
When is your "next time"? Do you want to fast with me?
Yes, I'm the living proof that you can be a fatty on veganism if you are a starchytarian - I don't eat the cakes, but even something like macrobiotic veganism can make you fat because the grains are so acidic and the coarse gluten and potatoes and beans make one so puffy. As an ethical vegan, I sure wish it were a simple equation between veganism and health/looks, but society provides the consumer with so many ways to eat junk food, even raw ones, that it's unfortunately a lot more complicated.
Thank you for writing in - let me know if you want to fast, or even grass".

Well my family is going to be out of the house this week so I'm fasting all this week. I want to do two weeks on the lemonade diet and then switch to wheatgrass and green juice for an additional week. Are you sure you're ugly? You are probably not as horrific as you make yourself sound :-)

How kind of you to say - do you think it's possible to genuinely be not-so-ugly and not know it? I really believe, think I SEE, that I am really horrific-looking - I'm not sure HOW this could be "mistaken". I suppose one could ask another person, but I'd be too ashamed.
Can you keep me posted on the lemonade fast - one is always interested in the contrast, if any, between that and a greener fast?
Have a fruitful fast that gives you everything you're fasting for!
Love, Joly

*** ABSOLUTELTY!!! Yes it's possible. You have some self esteem/body image issues. I'm sure you are way I used to be, not able to take a compliment about one's pretty appearance. You don't have body dysmorphia but a warped sense of body awareness. Take pics of yourself and look at them till you like what you see. It's taken me years to love my rear end and my stomach. Just think of fasting and exercise, diet, etc. as improving upon God's perfection instead of getting rid of massive ugliness ;-)
