Blog: 40 Days To Life
Yet another sleepless night last night. We have had record breaking heat the last four days, but finally, about 3:00 am it began to cool off. I was supposed to have therapy this morning. I got to the chiropractor about ten minutes early and the clinic was still closed. I waited for nearly 45 minutes and the doctor never showed up. I knew I was going to be in trouble if I had to sit much longer, so I left. I drove in the direction he comes in in hopes of meeting him on the road, but nothing. Cell phones don't work in that tiny town in a low holler, and by time I was able to get a strong signal I was closer to home than the clinic. I guess his other patients canceled and he forgot to call and tell me he wouldn't be in. With gas going up its hard enough to make the 54 mile round trip, I may have to find someone closer, but the only other nearby chiropractor I know has a habit of leaving town without telling anyone (one reason he's divorced).
Today has not been a bad day. The pain was controlled by medication and my balance is better than yesterday, although I still can't walk. After I got home I spent a good part of the day in bed reading. About 8:00 pm the UPS man came with an order of Green Max Powder. After the last time he was here and my back went out as I tried to walk up the hill, he decided to drive into my front yard. This was a big help to me, but he got stuck and sure tore up the yard trying to back out. Country life rarely gets boring. Well, one of the puppies is barking at the water distiller, at least I hope that's what has him upset; better go check it out.

Turmeric
In Ayurvedic medicine (traditional Indian medicine), turmeric rhizome has been used for centuries internally as a tonic for the stomach and liver and as a blood purifier, and externally in the treatment and prevention of skin diseases and in arthritic complaints.(13) The laboratory and clinical research indicates that turmeric and its phenolics have unique antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.(14) The anti-inflammatory strength of turmeric is comparable to steroidal drugs such as indomethacin.(15)
Turmeric has been reported to be anti-rheumatic, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant.(13) Curcuminoids reportedly inhibit enzymes which participate in the synthesis of inflammatory substances (leukotrienes and prostaglandins) derived from arachidonic acid, and it is claimed they are comparable in activity to the NSAID.(16) In a double-blind study of individuals with rheumatoid arthritis, curcumin produced significant improvement in all subjects.(15) Turmeric is also claimed to inhibit platelet aggregation.(17)
Curcumin reportedly has a similar action to that of aspirin and aspirin-like anti-inflammatory agents.(18) However, an advantage of curcumin over aspirin is claimed, since curcumin, unlike aspirin, is reported to selectively inhibit synthesis of inflammatory prostaglandins but does not affect the synthesis of prostacyclin.(18) Curcumin may be preferable for individuals who are prone to vascular thrombosis and require anti-inflammatory and/or anti-arthritic therapy.

I have used turmeric for a couple of years. I buy the pure turmeric in bulk at this wonderful little shop in town where everything is fresh and pure and make it into capsules. Turmeric is also in the two anti-inflammatory herbal compounds I take, Zyflamend and Mobility Essentials. Sadly, it has not lived up to its promise in my case. I talked about this to my doctor, who has a doctorate in Naturopathy, and he felt that the effects of the herb were overrated, although it seems to works synergisticly with other herbs.

I try differet things until I get the right combination. I know you are looking for that right set of body, soul, and mind to work for you. I think and pray daily for you to find yours.
I would love to give you a shot of lovingkindness... I am sending it your way...
