I literally could not do this without Little Bob Poo - a water-hole for the weary, soft, warm, and "forgiving" or "tolerant" isn't the word. I can't believe he loves me, but he rubs my face with his and purrs and casually touches me with his paws when he stretches, so perhaps he does. Unconditionally, it would seem. If you are planning to fast and are in one way or another (or in many or all ways) alone in the world, the best thing you could do for your fast is go to a shelter and rescue a loving armful of fuzz from death - then s/he'll stay with you when you need someone and the rise and fall of his warm alive belly will connect you with life when you feel like death. - And, yes, if you fail on your fast, s/he'll love you strangely just the same. (He even fully forgives you for making him eat vegan.)

I lost my cat a few weeks ago. Her name was Ginger and she was always a gift to me when I felt alone.

There is still hope - when I lost my cat, I told myself that some cats are found after months. Have you done all the usual - ads, reports, posters? It's so watery-knees heart-breaking to do, but it could turn her up. Keep us posted about her.

She's lost from this earth, but her body is in my freezer (it's too cold in VT to bury her...) hee hee, can't help but have a giggle at our misunderstanding.
She's a good kitty wishing you well. Tortoise colored - black and gold, just like my Steelers.
But football is for another day.

Hey, I keep all my cats in the freezer. Of course "my" cats, but also I do orphan kitten bottle-feeding rescue work and sometimes they die (yes, I've tried urine-colloidal silver-algae-grass-garlic-vitamin C-oxygen-aloe vera-coconut butter-bee products-everything) and I can't bury them...even past winter. All I have in the freezer. Beats ice-cream any day.
So you still have her, only she's a colder hug.
If you're like me, you'll be looking for other tortoiseshell girls - never to replace, just to keep going.

Wow. That's great work to do. I'm thinking about another kitty. I'd like to get two, so we can keep some siblings together. I've always gotten pairs at a time, and inevitably one lives much longer than the other.
Ginger was a skittish soul. She only ever sat on my lap like 3 times, and at that, she sort of sat like a vulture, not exactly relaxed. She never warmed up to people. We think she might have been abused or been an outdoor cat before we got her & her sister from the shelter.
I've always had darker colored cats, never a lighter one. I'm excited to see what makes my heart skip when I go to the shelter this time. I'm not quite ready yet, but my fiance misses having a friend around. I am getting ready to have some murf balls running around my house. (I call cat "head-butting" murfing, and hence, the new kitties would be murf balls).

my beautiful dog "stella" is the love of my life. adn during my recent fast i felt she was the only one i could really tell the whole truth to. on bad days i would actually get her to jump in bed with me and just lay there so i could pat her and tell her all my troubles. she alwasy listened never moved away from my love and gave me more back ten fold. she is actually at my feet now as i type. she of course has also benefitted from a healthier more energetic owner and loves it when i grab her lead to go for a run or walk.

Yes, if you have a dog or care of one, it's murder guilt when you just don't have the pep or are too bogged down in misery/toxicity to give her/him at least _one_ of the 3 or 4 long walks a day he or she craves - some really nice epiphany moments can happen out on such walks, and it's a sin to both person and dog when you can't go and enjoy life with him (her) - dogs are tremendous teachers. As cats are, if I let them. That intense light of enlightenment - it's like living with an Awakened One (though he mainly sleeps). You and Stella have a great (rest of) day.
