  • Want to join me in March 1st Juice Fast?   by  Golden Avocado     18 y     3,127       10 Messages Shown       Blog: Juice Fasting - the Fast and the Furious
Its 8:20pm EST, past my bedtime...
Before I sign off for the night I wanted to put a question out there for the rest of you CZ fastees:
Starting today (Sunday Feb 12) I am prepping for a 30-day JF. I expect to be emotionally (I'm such a big baby!), and physically (nutritionally) ready to climb that mountain on March 1st.

Would anyone like to join in with me? I just thought a few of you might want to start with me on March 1st. We could journal together, compare notes on our progress and how we all feel each day, give emotional support to each other (I know, we do that already!).

This is not meant as a competition in any way, just something we can do "together".

Even though I have done a few short JF and WF, I still consider myself a beginner and would love to have a few companions!

What do you think? If Yes, is March 1st ok to start?

      Susan,

I would love to join a March 1 JF with you...I just completed a 3 day JF 2 wks ago and feel ready for something more. How are you preparing your body for such a long fast? I feel like if I can get through the first 5 days of the fast I will be well on my way. What is your reasoning for wanting to JF? Mine, Well, I have 2 ...weight loss and I am trying to conceive baby #2, with little success...I am hoping that doing a Juice Fast/prayer fast I can get myself in tune spiritually and figure out what is going wrong and why I am not getting pregnant. Anyway, Let me know...

        Hi Morgansmommy,
My reasons for wanting to JF is to detox and be more healthy, and weight loss.
Prepping myself mentally by researching fasting and getting feedback from others at CZ.
Prepping myself physically by weaning myself off coffee, and easing into a whole foods diet in the days leading up to March 1st.
I had three cups of coffee yesterday, so that's a tiny improvement.
I will be making fresh juice daily during February.
My husband loves fresh juice but hehas not fasted at all, he just enjoys the juice. He says just drinking the juice makes him feel so much more healthy and energetic - and I agree!
So happy you want to JF with me in March!

I have been wanting to do a extended JF for awhile now, but my hubby isn't to thrilled with the idea, he believes it is to extreme. We have been drinking fresh juice 2-3x daily since the beginning of the year and I can tell a difference in my energy level, I just hate cleaning the Juicer. I have been reading up on fasting too...and need to purchase some Oxy Powder before we begin...Well, please keep me posted and as the days get closer, I am sure we'll be talking more. Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

    • Gather an Army! LOL   by  Dazzle     18 y     1,291
      Golden,

Today is my last day on this 30 day fast, although I am going to continue after taking a few days off... I don't know if I will take it to March 1, but I will still be around to cheer you on!

Good idea to start gathering your forces ahead of time. I always recommend anyone embarking on a lengthy fast to plan, plan, plan. There is never too many contingency plans on a sustained juice fast.

Have you thought about going out to the forums and inviting people there to join you on your fast? There are many people there who probably don't read the blogs. You may end up with an army to join you March 1. How cool would that be?

      Good luck to you, girl!

        Dazzle,

I am a planner. I also have a bit of anxiety about this JF we are planning. This is the longest fast I have ever undertaken, but I think it will do me a world of good.
So I have a shopping list of things to get ahead of time. Mainly non-perishable items: OxyPowder, a new cutting board, and paring knives, etc. I remember being tired, had brain fog, and hungry last time, so I want to get my ducks in a row first.
As to the anxiety - I wonder if I can really pull it off? Fatigue, brain fog, hunger, headaches from caffeine withdrawal. I only fasted a few days the last few times I fasted, but these symptoms were with me for about half of the time.

But, on a more positive note, I am looking forward to what you call giving this gift of health to myself. I think I am better prepared to do it this time around!

Inviting other forums is a great idea! The more the merrier!

Maybe, what you can do is to slowly but surely begin weaning yourself off the coffee and sugar ahead of time. Take baby steps. If your usual is, say... four cups a day, today have your four cups, but tomorrow have ONLY three. Keep the three for the next few days, and then go to ONLY two cups... keep that up for a few days and then only have ONE CUP... after that, you can decide whether to keep drinking that one cup all the way up to March 1 OR cut it out completely before March 1. By doing this, you pretty much eliminate those horrible caffeine withdrawls... damn, the headaches from those can put the most stoic of us down.

The brain fog and fatigue are definitely toxin removal. So, I'm thinking if you weaned yourself off before hand, much of that brain fog and fatigue will not be a severe this time around.

Yes, I honestly do believe you CAN pull it off. As long as you have plans in place, know what to expect so you're not taken by surprise and have some sort of action in mind for when you do feel horrible. For me, when I feel terrible, I juice MORE and I lay down with a good book. If I feel bad, but not so bad that I need to rest, I try to do something else that will take a lot of time and keep my mind off occupied, such as oil painting, writing, gardening... If you have any kind of hobbies or interests then get them out... if there is something you've wanted to try but haven't had the time or inclination, such scrapbooking, cross stitching, or whatever, now's the time to try it.

I went out and bought something like $100 worth of books before I began this fast... I ended up buying more halfway through (about the RAW lifestyle). On one fast, I created a huge flower bed by digging it out with a shovel, about 15 by 20 ft, and planted three trees and bushes and flowers and mulched the whole thing.

I read alot of inspirational articles, which helps alot. By offering support to others gives me much inner strength to tarry on.

Don't forget to stroke your spirit while on this juice fast. Maybe pick up some new inspirational, soothing music, some new candles for when you take long epsom salt detox soaks. Maybe get some new night clothes that make you feel feminine and sensual to help you ride out the fast.

So, along with your OxyPowder, paring knives, cutting boards, perhaps pick up some new hobby, a bunch of books if you read, try your hand with something new... Oh and one more thing, maybe get a new outfit in the new size you'll be and hang it where you will see it everyday.

You can do this. You really really can!

          *hugs*
