    Noon:

Guess what I am doing?  I am eating a delicious slice of avocado.  I am taking eensy weensy teeny weeny litte tiny bites so to prolong the ambrosiac experience.  This morning instead of juicing my ruby red grapefruit, I ate half of one.  Oh my garsh!  You know, my jaws actually ached when I began chewing, almost like how TMJ would feel.

Okay that's enough about eating foods.  I don't want to upset or discourage anyone.  I will not mention another word about eating anything.  Except to say, I am going to go back on my fast tomorrow.  My daughter is coming over after she gets off work to pick up the avocadoes, grapes, cherries and hummus today.

I just drank a delicious creamy-like 16 ounce glass of carrot juice.  First time in a long time I have drank pure carrot juice.  It was carrot juice that got me into juicing believe it or not.  Thing is, that carrot juice was in a can.  This was about, ohhhh, more than five years ago.  I was in the juice aisle looking at tomato juices when my eye spied canned carrot juice on the shelf above the tomato and V-8 juices and I thought, "Wow! I love carrots, the juice has to be delicious," and it was.  Even canned, pasteurized and dead, that juice was delicious.  I got on the 'Net and looked up Carrot Juice and lo! and behold I  brought up all kinds of information about carrot juice, FRESH RAW carrot juice and there you go... my initial introduction to juicing.  I read everything I could on the subject and then bought my first and only juicer, the Juiceman II, and my career in juicing began.

My son brought me a quart of raw organic honey yesterday for Valentine's Day.  It has the honeycomb floating in it.  The honey is a beautiful dark golden copper color and is made from orange blossoms, so it has a taste of orange blossoms.  It's extremely delicious.  I am going to have to watch myself with that.  It's much more fattening and very high in the GI scale than Agave Nectar.  The Agave Nectar is a third of the calories and low on the GI scale, so even diabetics could use it moderately.  I know there are many beauty recipes that call for honey because of the anti-bacterial properties as well as the delicious moisterizing effects, I wonder what Agave Nectar would do in beauty recipes.  Only one way to find out.  I'll give myself an Agave Nectar mask on one side of my face and a Honey mask on the other side.  Compare the two.  I just have to remember to not answer the door.

I did that the other day, after I smeared all over my face the dregs of my juice which was orange-ish.  <chuckle>  All those carrots and apples dissolve the glue that hold dead cells and sloughs them off while toning the skin. Good thing it was only the cute 19 year old boy from the across the street who already knows I'm crazy.  He just raised an eyebrow and said, "I suppose you do know your face is orange.  Right?"  I went to wash it off after that, laughing the whole time.  I suppose an orange-ish complexion is better than having tomato seeds stuck on my nose, or lemon pulp smeared across my cheek (that looks like dried snot).   I'm so fortunate my friends and family understand me.  LOL   You should have seen the look on the UPS guy's face one time.

    10:48 pm

My daughter came by and picked up the food I won't be eating and my son also came by at about the same time I was cooking dinner, so they stayed for dinner and ate with my husband.  It was great having everyone together.  I am fortunate that both of my children live nearby and stop in often.  It's been a little awhile since we all lived together.  We all had a juice, including my 6 year old grandson, who loves the carrot/apple combo.  I stick a few spinach leaves in there and he never knows.

Tonight I altered my usual nightly tea by using Rice Dream milk for my base instead of water.  I heated the milk then added the tea bag (White Tea) and Agave Nectar to taste, since the Rice milk is already sweet-ish to me.  I did not use vanilla flavor which is good but sometimes far too sweet for me.  I don't drink this during the fast proper.  Although I'm not sure why.  Other than the hot broths in the beginning of the fast, I do only the juices, waters and teas.  But right now I am enjoying the hot, sweet, milky tea.

Tomorrow, I go back on the fast and take it one day at a time.  My son's birthday is the end of this month.  He told me he would rather just have a bunch of people over to grill 'dogs and cheeseburgers, that he's craving my cheeseburgers.  (I groaned inwardly) But I said sure, we'll have a day of grilling festivities.  So, Saturday, Feburary 25, I will be making my famous cheeseburgers with various cheeses, including Bleu cheese, my favorite. <wiping the drool off my chin>  He knows I won't be eating and since the festivities will be here, I won't feel strange not eating in a restaurant with about ten other people who are.  I mean, who likes to be watched while they're eating and trust me I'd be watching.  So much for not mentioning food again.  <rolls eyes>

For those of you who are trying to wean yourselves off of coffee here is a very intriguing source for herbal coffee without the caffeine.  I am going to try this, as you know I am looking for something bold to drink in the mornings.  Something like a roasted nut beverage.  They use chicory, barley, almonds and other natural herbs and plants in their herbal coffees and teas.  They offer various flavors as well as a flavor that is reputed to resemble classic coffee.  I have not tried these yet however, I do intend to.  This is the closest I have come to finding something to replace my coffee.  I came across this information from Leslie our Enchanted Gardener: http://curezone.com/blogs/f.asp?f=92

The link to the site is: Teeccino http://www.teeccino.com/default.aspx  Take a look around and see what they have and what's in their herbal coffees.  They have some excellent articles on the dangers of caffeine as well as a good write up on how getting off caffeine can help one to lose weight quicker.  Their forum answers alot of questions and you can read how others like or dislike the herbal coffees. They even have a store locater so maybe a wholefoods store in your location will carry it.  The site is very informative and worth your while to explore.  I'm going to order some and will let you all know how I like it.  Anything to stay away from coffee.  My thing isn't the caffeine per se, I really don't drink enough for that to be a major problem, but I do load it up with sugar and non-dairy creamer which is nothing but pure unadulterated poison.  I like my coffee very sweet and creamy.  I'm really hoping this product will taste delicious and work its charm on my senses.  Thank you, Leslie!

Well, dear people, it's getting close to the Witching Hour.  I think I will do a summary of the 30 day fast like Julie did with hers.  That was an excellent idea to do.  Tomorrow is supposed to be a busy day for me, but I will try to work that in.  In the meantime, stay cool and stay strong and I'll talk with you all tomorrow.

    May your Dreams be sweet...

    • honey and juicing   by  finallyfaith     18 y     1,198
      hi,

that honey your son got you sounds good, the comb is heavenly to eat. try this for an idea. get some pure royal jelly (one of the most nutritionally packed substances on earth) tnen mix it in with that honey. it will be SUPER nutritions and SUPER delicious. just make sure you get the high quality refrigerated royal jelly, and you may have to warm to room temp to mix it, but keep it refrig as much as possible and never heat the jelly. taken on an empty stomach first thing in the morning rocks. the higher the ratio of jelly to honey, the more nutritious.

also i forgot to mention champion juicers. you can now usually get one one ebay for not too much. those things are workhorses, they never run down. but they don't do wheatgrass.

going back on the fast huh? well good luck and keep the great blog entries coming.

      • (Finally Faith) honey and juicing   by  Dazzle     18 y     1,177
Finally Faith, what an absolutely BRILLIANT idea. You come up with some of the most wonderful insights. I'm a fan!!

I've wanted to give Royal Jelly a try and now that I have this delicious organic raw honey, I believe I will pick some up at Sunsplash, the organic wholefoods store here in town. What do you know of Bee Pollen? Have you used it? If so, how? I almost bought a bag of it when I was last there. The grains look huge and are a lovely golden color.

Thank you for taking the time to share your idea. I am so glad you did.

        *hugs to you*

    • glad to know I'm not the only one...   by  SqueakyClean     18 y     1,039
...who smears food on my face!!!

My favorite is fresh cucumber scrubbed all over my face. Another one is taking the green tea bag after I finish and rubbing it all over my face.
It's hard to remember to wash my face before I go out, sometimes I forget!
