  • Traveling on a New Frequency   by  greggechols     19 y     2,875       4 Messages Shown       Blog: Dreaming Alive
I've been traveling about quite a bit while standing still here in Santa Monica, California, so pardon me if I drop in for a moment and share some thoughts. I haven't been sitting in this realm long enough as of late to share much, so let me give this a try.

I've recently connected with a song that I've heard on local station KCRW at times during the past six months or so, and it really caught my attention on the sound system at the hotel where I work. It is a song from Royksopp called Eple. It is a song made in 2001 and one I never heard until this past year.

Why is this song now being drawn to me? What is it within myself that is connecting with this song? Perhaps I am in a new space of consciousness in order to have this song come to my attention? Perhaps my receiving station has been adjusted and upgraded so that this particular song is now drawn to my attention. It is as though I am in a different frequency, and receiving incoming signals at a different level. And it isn't good or bad, higher or lower--it just happens to be frequency, and consciousness.

As I meditate on this, I capture this idea: it’s as though we keep listening to the same songs over and over and it keeps us in the same consciousness! Listening to the same songs over and over prevents us from changing realities and changing frequencies! I finally “caught” this song because I finally landed on a level of frequency that allowed for this connection: this song is being broadcast at a different level of frequency than I've been hovering! WOW!!!! And I mean a different galactical frequency, not to mention, perhaps, a different spiritual frequency.

Or maybe none of that at all: perhaps my own individual frequency has been modulated over the last few weeks in order to somehow connect with the frequency of that song, which, it feels like in my body, is of a galactic, cosmic-type sound. The song itself sounds like radio waves, something you’d hear in a science fiction, outer space movie. It reaches me, however, on a deep, emotional level. It sends me on a trip!

Maybe this also gives me the name of my book: Don’t Mind Me, I’m Just Tripping.

Perhaps that’s the lure, the “catch” of songs: they take us to new spaces within ourselves, places we’ve never been; and, then, we’re able to “go” to that new space each time we listen to the song again. However, that’s as far as we go. We don’t move into new territory with that listen: perhaps we remain in that particular new territory, that new inner field, and sooner or later it becomes stagnant and old. We keep listening to that song over the years in hopes of “catching” the initial euphoria of entering that new realm. That is always a powerful feeling.

Yet, we’re never going to recapture that same feeling with that song. We’re looking for it, hoping for it, and praying for it—but it’s not gonna happen. It can and will probably happen with another song that has yet to enter our consciousness, but until that happens, the “hoped-for” feelings of that amazing new song will not reoccur. It’s like the excitement of going to a city for the very first time, and after the 20th trip, we’re like, “enough already.”

I used to play that game when it came to going “out” at night: going to a dance club or bar and hoping to recreate that “magical” experience of a previous night. And, I’d often times play that game at the very same dance club or bar. Uh-uh—it ain’t gonna happen like that. Music, of course, plays a big role in that, since sound is a pathway to experience. It’s like riding a wave: we ride the sound current into a new dimension within ourselves, and have all kinds of fabulous experiences. It is a cosmic ride through the universe, for sure!

I am reminded of the power of Raves, and how they are events that provide absolute transportation to the other realms—especially Rave events that are outdoors, where the connection with nature is so high and powerful. The music is generally galactical sounding, and that will take you into other worlds even without a rave. But the Rave event—those that are sincere in their movement of energy, and not tied to the mass, unconscious and derogatory use of stimulants—can be powerful journeys into the cosmos and into our connection with All That Is.

So it is curious for me, listening to a four-year-old song that I’ve heard on occasion during the last six months, but only now connecting with it on a deep way. Perhaps it was the lighting, the temperature of this room, the “inner space” I was in during this moment: but nonetheless, there was a deep, cosmic connection between this particular song and me. I was transported to a new place, and I am grateful to this music for that journey.

Now, pray tell: where’s the dance floor?
