Blog: Dreaming Alive
I’ve been thinking about my relations with race, and the collective attitude about race as well. This has been a result of dreams and visions I’ve been having over the last four months.
A friend of mine had responded to these dreams after she saw the movie Crash, which I also recently saw. It, indeed, produces a very profound experience of how we treat each other in this country—and how much anger is underneath.
It is my feeling that for this country—and the world—to move to a different level, we must all change the way in which we see each other. We must be able to go past the idea of race in order to live with one another on this planet. Race is such a bogus tool that has been devised to differentiate each one of us. It is horrendous! And nothing this government in America does will change this.
Imagine treating a pair of blue jeans differently than a pair of khaki pants—absurd, huh? Imagine treating your black coffee cup differently—hating it!—than your brown coffee cup. Societies across the world have created these fictitious dividers between people simply because of their skin color. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s dream was for his children to be looked at no differently than white children—and brothers and sisters, that dream is far, far from being realized.
We have to get past the stereotypes! It will take the greatest strength our civilization has ever harnessed to do this, simply because of the prejudices that are so very deep in the blood of our country—and countries all over the world. Yet, it will take a conscious effort in order for us to move past this fictitious division of peoples that is prevalent in every corner of the globe. It’s not just black versus white or black versus brown; it’s light brown versus dark brown, light skinned blacks versus dark skinned blacks; dark skinned whites versus light skinned whites. No one is out of the picture when it comes to people being divided because of their skin color.
This is from a pair of dreams I had five months ago while in Brasil:
I am outside a stadium or arena outdoors in the parking lot; I am being shown this area in this vision—and now going closer to see it is a black function, an event being attended mainly by African-Americans, as I am seeing numerous beer company vans and trucks outside here in the parking lot, each with a stereotypical marketing photo related to black culture—namely, the image of a black girl’s thigh and butt in cut-off jeans. This is what is shown on these vans.
As I’m waking I’m hearing—we’re going to change these racial stereotypes. We’re going to change the perception.
So what are these dreams saying about the collective, about racial stereotypes? Perhaps that both the white and black cultures are so entrenched in these stereotypes that we are both going to have to be nudged out of these attitudes; it hasn’t happened yet. Something has to be done.

- animals don't seem to be so biased do they ? by Wrenn

I mean a cat is a cat lol
regardless of color
A dog is a dog !
some colorations are designed in nature in animal kingdom
to identify certain species of different birds etc,
or snakes,
but that is a moot point.
the thing is most cats don't *gangup on a black cat
or a calico cat or a siamese cat..
racism from any side is separatism in action.
and separatism is only an illusional mind program
to keep us all from recognising that we are really ONE.
nice post

Nice post.
Yes I agree something needs to be done but what?
I start always at my own doorstep and I think that there are already many separating ideas within the family which must be addressed first in order to work on the bigger picture.
I love my family and kids equally ( even they have different skin colors )
And following the words of Meister Eckehart I also do well as a westerner in the tropics where different skin color is everywhere.
The most important time is always the present.
The most important person is the one in front of you.
The most importnat deed is Love.
Blessings
Thomas

Yes, we can if we really want! "The most important person is in front of you." How true--and like you say, that is our starting point! Some say that every potential relationship we'll encounter in the world is within our home, if not within ourselves. I know I get so caught up in my past attitudes and tendencies and overlook what is right in front of me--especially if it is a family member. My sister and I talk about this all the time, and continually changing our perspective of our family members--in EACH moment--is the greatest place to start. Your insight, Thomas is awesome. Thanks, and blessings. ge
