Back in my days of being a practicing midwife, I used to refer couples who desired to become pregnant to a wonderful program called the Couple to Couple League that is sponsored by the Catholic Church. The program teaches couples how to practice a natural form of birth control using the woman's basal body temp and cervical mucous signs as a guide to determine when she was most fertile. The techniques would be used in reverse for those wanting to have a baby.
One of these CCL counselors was a dear friend of mine. Once I tried to get pregnant without success and she told me a little trick they suggest in CCL. She told me to take a tablespoon of Robitussin cough medicine every day and again every night after my cycle ended until it started again the next month. The idea was that sometimes a woman has too much/too thick mucous in her system for the sperm to swim in. I confess that one of my seven babies was a Robitussin baby.
Here on Dr. Schulze 's forum, we aren't going to recommend Robitussin! But I will recommend that you change your diet to a low mucous diet. Basically, you need to eat at the very least, a 50% raw vegetable and fruit diet. 75% would be better. Tyler's jucing suggestion is one that you should follow as well.
How do you know if you're at 50-75% raw? I teach my children to look at their plate. Instead of getting their meat or cooked food first, they get their salad first. They fill their plate half full with salad. Yea! They are at 50% raw. Then they can put a piece of fruit on there. Yea! Now they are at 2/3 or 66% raw. Now they can decide if they want another piece of fruit or a handful of baby carrots to make it 75% raw, or if some whole grain like brown rice or a muffin or a small baked potato sounds better to them. Then they can have a small serving of steamed vegetables and leave it at that or add a small serving of chicken or fish or turkey. Or maybe we are having lentil soup or some other bean dish, bean burritoes, pita pockets with hummus, etc.
Yes, you want to get the best nutrition in your body right now before you become pregnant, exercise, take Superfood, and the other things Tyler mentioned. The same goes for your dear husband so that he can give the best of himself to your new little one.
